This past weekend was fairly adventurous. Jordan goes back to school next week so we decided we needed one last HOO-RAH before he was slaving away at school. Plus, I quit my awful job at the bank and am starting at a doctors office Monday, so we decided a celebration weekend was in order. Friday after work, we headed down to Denver and ate some delicious food, and stayed at an awesome hotel with a king sized bed. We were both quite thrilled to have the king sized bed. We both woke up at different times in the night and were reaching out trying to feel where the other one was. It was fabulous. We woke up Saturday and went to the temple. It was perfect. Just what we needed to rejuvenate us. Such a great place to start off your weekend!!
After the temple we headed out of the city and into the beautiful mountains. We had both been wanting to go river rafting all summer. I had gone a few summers earlier with my sisters and had a blast and I wanted Jordan to see what it was all about. The trip defintely did not disappoint. We had tried to book an advanced trip, which is the one my sisters and I had done before, but they told us at this water level it would be more along the lines of an intermediate level. I was a little sad, but once we got on the water I realized there was nothing to be sad about! Our trip started out nice and slow, like this......

But then it suddenly became like this!!!!
Don't waste time trying to find us in the photos. I got them off their website. The place we went wanted $30 for ONE picutre on a CD. But I promise you I am not exaggerating on the intensity level. It was AWESOME! Our group was pretty interesting as well. We started out with Jordan and another strong looking boy up front, with me and the boys brother in the middle. About 5 seconds into the trip we realized it wasn't working out. The two brothers were impossible. They didn't stop arguing the entire time. Plus they stunk at rowing. When we reached a calm spot, the guide had me go in front with Jordan and the two brothers went to the middle. They were mad I was in front, but really, it might have saved our lives. There were many times the guide would get so mad at them for not following his instructions that he yelled and cursed at them. It was hilarious. Next time we hope to have enough people to fill our own raft so as not to chance it with another pair of weirdos.
We absolutely LOVE rafting and plan to make it an annual trip. And THAT, my friends, was our adventurous weekend.
Can we make it an annual trip with you? Pretty funny that the guy wiped your tears...pretty creepy. I'm glad you guys got a little break before Jordan has to go back to school!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, well at least he didn't lick his thumb and rub a smudge off your face. That would've been way worse. :)
ReplyDeletethe photos make me laugh! p.s. where did you go and did you find them online?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good time! Glad you got to go play in the river!!!!
ReplyDeleteLiana, we went to Clear Creek in Idaho Springs. We went with AVA rafting. You guys should go!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Hil- I just found your blog! Love it! You guys are awesome indeed. You wedding pictures are so good! I sure miss you. I am convinced we will live by each other some day, so we can do cool things like hike on trails (or ride logs down ditches) while Ryne and Jordan do their hunting stuff:)
ReplyDeleteOk, I re-read this and I guess I didn't see the job thing before...I commented on it even!
